Labor Day is an annual holiday celebrated all over the world that resulted from the Labour Union movement to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers. We celebrate is on the 1st Monday of September here. Labor day has it's origins in the Eight-hour day movement, which advocated either hours for work, eight hours for recreation and eight hours for rest. Since it's a federal holiday here, most everyone was off work (unless you operate a tourist type place or event) and the island was hopping with cars all over, the grocery store was full and Home Depot was packed too. Everyone seemed to still be laboring on Labor day.

The sun is finally out and storm Erika is way away from us now so it's back to normal cruise ships, parasailing and day charters in the harbor. Oh I can hear the weeds a grow'in now!
