Yes, I know it's only suppose to be 42 degrees today in Erie, PA but who the heck cares when the 4th annual North American Sea Glass festival in already underway this weekend at the Bayfront Convention Center! There will be 2 days of shopping, looking, gawking and talking about nothing but sea glass. Oh, I wish I was there, walking thru the vendors sporting a  pair of jeans, a sweater and boots looking at it all (since it's about 90 degrees in St. Thomas today).

They will have booths full of sea glass collections from all over the states, lectures, seminars and jewelry made from seaglass too. I love that there is a contest for the Best Shard of the year where private collectors are given an opportunity to show off some of their collections and win a cash prize of $1000. The contest attracted over 900 entries in '07 and will be judged by board members of the North American Sea Glass Association who are hosting the two-day event. I personally don't have any pieces that would probably win but it would be fun to see the entries.

I will be in CA soon but will miss the Santa Cruz show darn it. Timing is everything right? If you live near by, check the next two shows.
