Rain, rain, and more rain!
We enjoyed some much needed rain yesterday (paired with wind and mist too) and it seems as if it will continue today as well. It makes the island nice and green but doesn't do much for the beach and sun loving tourists who are here. If it just rained and came straight down, that might be one thing, but yesterday it was sideways and blowing pretty hard which isn't comfortable at all.The sand get's pretty caked down at the beach.
The good thing about rain and wind is that is naturally prunes the tall palm trees, washes down the streets and washes up some pretty seaglass and shells too on the beach days later.
We also collect rain water on our roof to use for showering and dishes in the house so islanders are so happy when it rains (plus the trees love it!). It is usually the talk of the island when it rains because no one has to call the water truck to have water pumped into their houses.
Here are 2 pictures of houses here in St. Thomas. One that knows that in order to collect clean rain water, you need to top coat and seal your roof and the other?.....well, maybe I should knock on their door and show them what their bad roof looks like huh? ewwwww!
